Located at 2990 Lockport Olcott Rd, The Brookside has become a beloved dining spot in Newfane, NY, known for both its welcoming atmosphere and a diverse menu. Laura Weir, a regular patron, highlights the family-friendly vibe while appreciating the minimal distraction from the single TV by the bar, making it a cozy place for conversation.
While the feedback is largely positive, some diners have shared mixed reviews. Matt Thomas noted that while the food was decent, it didn’t leave a lasting impression, and he faced issues with undercooked macaroni. Conversely, Jeremy Curley praised the staff's friendliness and the restaurant's ability to handle large orders promptly, insisting it’s worth a visit. This balance of positive and constructive feedback showcases The Brookside as a place where you can expect decent food and sincere service.
The decor is pleasing, and the environment inspires repeat visits. Christina Broecker's account of enormous, flavorful salads only adds to the restaurant’s reputation as a solid choice for both casual outings and intimate dinners. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in the area. The food has never disappointed. They have gluten free options (love the shrimp flatbread!). The menu has a great variety of staples and creative items. It's family-friendly but also nice enough for a date. There's just one TV by the bar, which I appreciate (I like to talk to people without the TV competing for our attention). The prices are reasonable. At times we've had slow service, but they were usually busy and still very nice and professional. And I like the decor
First time being here after hearing very good things. Food wasn’t bad but it’s nothing to rave about. I ordered the beer batter fish fry; with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. While everything is homemade the slaw was good but the Mac was not cooked all the way and the noodles were still hard. Other people ordered the lobster stuffed haddock and shrimp, two cheeseburgers. We also started with fried cauliflower bites and pretzels for the appetizer. Again everything was not bad but it’s not a place that I would just say let’s go to the brookside. If you are in the area check it out it maybe your new favorite place.
Amazing. I have never had this before. Its right down the street from my partners house and i have to say, everyone is so friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. We placed a large order and they were slammed. They were super patient and everything was delicious. Unfortunately they forgot my partners side of sweet potatoes fries but as soon as i called they worked incredibly fast to remedy the situation, with a smile on their face. I will be ordering from them again and telling EVERYONE about this restaurant. The people, the place, the plates, all worth every single cent spent. Thank you for such an incredible meal!! - Jeremy
Absolutely love this place. Plenty of options available & a great atmosphere. They’re surprisingly creative when it comes to specials. Not much repetition that I’ve noticed. Their salads are enormous & delicious. My favorite is the buffalo chicken flatbread with cauliflower crust. I don’t have gluten concerns, the cauliflower crust just comes out crispy & doesn’t leave you with a carb-hangover. Great option on a cheat day
Food was good except I couldn't eat all mine so I took half home. I got the hot roast beef with gravy and inside the beef was a black melted piece of plastic. I called today and the response I got was thanks for letting us know. We spend a lot of money there and go several times a month. Not even I'm sorry about that. Just letting everyone know that I talked to the manager and he apologized and made it right. I appreciate a business that takes care of the customer.
Whenever I visit my hometown, Brookside is a must. Their family atmosphere and willingness to go above and beyond for people in their community are one of the best things about them. Not to mention we love all the food options they offer! We recently had a large party of people who had dinner together in the side room. Our waitress Sarah was wonderful, hardworking and cool-headed when working with so many guests. Bethany and Ken were beyond helpful and kind, Bethany even left her post to help us cut a birthday cake for the occasion and Ken was there making sure everything was great with a big smile. I will always bring my family and business here when I am home, and my kids always make sure to request dining in when we are visiting.
My favorite restaurant of all time...and it is only 5 minutes from our house (I'd definitely drive a distance for it if I had to). My only problem going here is deciding what to get because I love so many of their options... so I usually order on of the specials.
Great food. I got chicken dinners and fries the first time I went, then got the chicken Caesar salad this time and it was the best one I've ever had. I came back a few weeks later and we got the steak nachos as an appetizer along with the Mac n cheese bites. Both were delicious. The only problem we had was 45 minutes to get our main entrees and the service was not good. Everybody was nice tho, and the host tried hard as well. It was a Wednesday I believe.
